"Cigarette Racing Earns Mercury Racing T.E.A.M. Accreditation"09/08/2004
 | Cigarette Racing ofOpa-Locka, Fla., is the first of three OEM boat builders accreditedthrough Mercury Racing's Total Engine Application Management(T.E.A.M.) program for installation of the HP1075 SCi sterndriveengine package.
The T.E.A.M.initiative is a factory-approved integration process for newMercury Racing marine propulsion systems. The standardized processrequires training of the entire OEM boat builder and dealer staffinvolved with the installation of the new Mercury Racing propulsionsystem. The program specifies qualified components to be used withthe new product along with factory-approved product specifications.The HP1075 SCi sterndrive is the first product to be supported bythe Mercury Racing T.E.A.M. initiative.
The two otheraccredited boat builders are Outerlimits Offshore of Bristol, RhodeIsland; and Nortec Powerboats of North Fort Myers,Fla.
Mercury RacingPresident Fred Kiekhaefer presented Cigarette Racing President andCEO Skip Braver with custom T.E.A.M. plaques today at Cigarette'sdealer meeting in Hollywood, Fla. The plaques signify Cigarette'saccreditation for HP1075 SCi engine package installation in their46-foot Rider and 42X models.
"Cigaretteembraced the T.E.A.M. concept from the day we presented it.Clearly, Skip and his people want to deliver boats with no flaws.That is the point of T.E.A.M. accreditation," Kiekhaefersaid.
"The MercuryRacing T.E.A.M. program is extremely beneficial," added CigaretteRacing's Braver. "It is truly a team effort, where we and MercuryRacing have both learned better ways in which to integrate boat andpropulsion. The end result is improved customer satisfaction due toenhanced product quality and reliability," Braversaid.
Cigarette Racingworked closely with Mercury Racing in 1075 SCi validation testing."Mercury Racing has come up with an incredible engine package withthe 1075 SCi," said Braver. "We have over 150 hours on thevalidation set of motors and they continue to run as strong as theday they were installed. Mercury's SmartCraft technology makes the1075 SCi the most user friendly, big-block engine available. Itruns as smooth as the HP525 EFI with an incredibly low 800 RPM idlespeed. Our customers applaud its effortless shifting, whichenhances dock maneuverability," Braver said.
The 1075 SCi isonly available to T.E.A.M.-accredited OEM boat builders anddealers. Mercury Racing, along with its parent company MercuryMarine, is the first marine engine manufacturer to be ISO 9001/2000certified. The T.E.A.M. initiative is a reflection of MercuryRacing's high standards and dedication to continue its leadershipposition in the marine industry.
