 | Mercury MerCruiser'sline-up of sterndrives for next boating season comprises 20 models, the broadest range in the industry. Upgrades are being introducedacross the Alpha and Bravo drive families, many resulting fromrecent in-depth surveys of more than 1,000 owners.
Key improvementsinclude one-third less gear shifting force on Alpha and Bravomodels, 30% reduction of installation time for new drives, quickdisconnect fittings, plus larger propeller thrust bearings on thecontra-rotating Bravo Three.
All multi-portfuel injection (MPI) Alpha models now feature a revised enginemanagement programme for reducing shift effort and noise, vibrationand harshness. The Alpha remains the biggest-selling drive of alltime.
Refinements toBravo drives also focus on smoother gear shifting. A new shiftlever and back cover on all models provide a more defined neutralposition. In extensive tests, the latest Bravo clutch mechanism hasachieved an 85% reduction in shift-related noise, vibration andharshness. In addition to bigger prop thrust bearings for longerlife, the heavy duty Bravo Three has additional anodes. A newribbed top cap on Bravo X models provides greater structuralintegrity and makes cooling more efficient.
All MercuryMerCruiser drives go through a 14-stage corrosion protectionprocess. They are backed by a three-year limited corrosionwarranty. |
