Mercury Racinghas announced its HP1075 SCi Sterndrive, a 9.1 litre big block V8with SmartCraft PCM 03 microprocessor. It develops 1,075HP(802kW). TheMercury-exclusive SmartCraft PCM 03 distributorless controllercontinuously monitors and varies the amount of boost to provideconsistent power in any condition. It optimises fuel, spark timingand knock control for each cylinder independently, enhancing enginerunning quality, performance and durability. Mercury's EngineGuardian system, for prewarning of problems and automatic powerreduction if necessary, is driven by the PCM 03 controller.
The HP1075 SCi isequipped with the digital SmartCraft controller area network (CAN)system, a mesh of sensors that provide precise data on all boatfunctions. The sensors monitor fuel flow, fuel used, fuel level, available boating range, engine speed, water depth, trim angle, water pressure, water tank level, battery voltage and waste tankcondition. The CAN communicates to the skipper via SmartCraftSC5000 monitor and gauges, giving real-time readings.
Features includeLysholm twin-screw superchargers with multi-port fuel injection, eight ignition coils to eliminate plug fouling, twin flamearrestors which act as air filters to keep the induction systemclean and efficient, high velocity cooling, dry sump enginelubrication for reduced friction and improved power, a balancedsteel crankshaft, forged steel connecting rods and aluminiumpistons, race-prepared aluminium cylinder heads, high performanceroller camshaft, plus 65-amp charging. The sterndrive used is a drysump Mercury Six.
