Mercury and Mariner OptiMax continue the tradition of outstanding reliability, performance and efficiency with the addition of the 125 hp engine to the 1.5L fuel-injected family – expanding the range from 75-125 hp.
This powerful inline three-cylinder engine has large displacement for its class, enabling it to push bigger boats out of the hole with ease. Power, holeshot, speed, fuel-efficiency and durability are the trademarks of OptiMax.
Reliability
- The lower units are outfitted with near net forged gears which are the toughest and most durable in the industry
- Designed for durability, the driveshaft, shift shaft, prop shaft, water pump housings, tilt tube and power head fasteners are stainless steel for added strength, corrosion resistance and extended engine life
Performance
- OptiMax offers unsurpassed hole shot and top-end speed
• Direct fuel injection assures the clean, quiet and fuel-efficient qualities of a four-stroke engine - This family of OptiMax engines actually outperforms most four-strokes in fuel consumption, fuel-flow and miles per gallon
- Lighter than comparable four-strokes, resulting in a better power- to- weight ratio, excellent on lighter-weight hulls for aluminum and flats-boat applications
Running Quality
- An exclusively designed Air-Bypass Silencer means this engine is virtually as quiet as a four-stroke at idle
- OptiMax technology assures turnkey starting and smoke-free operation
• Engine management system allows for lower idle/trolling speed than comparable four-strokes - The unique five-quart integral oil reservoir is easy to fill and serves as the engine’s sound attenuator for whisper-quiet operation
Technology
- Only OptiMax uses a two-stage injection process to produce enhanced fuel atomization, achieving better fuel economy, smooth running qualities, and reliability
- The 75 hp OptiMax utilizes the powerful PCM 07 control module for unmatched engine management and SmartCraft capabilities
- 60-amp belt driven alternator assures charged batteries even while operating electronics at low RPM
