an I leave my jet boat in the water, or should I put it back on the trailer every night?
- The Mercury Jet Drive is protected against corrosion, even if left in the water. However, like all types of boats when left in the water for extended periods of time, algae and barnacles may begin to grow on the surfaces of the jet that are underwater. These growths can rob your boat of performance and can block passages in the cooling system over time.
What type of protection does Mercury offer against corrosion?
- The Mercury Jet Drive utilizes a patented XK360 aluminum alloy with low copper content to provide the best material to protect against corrosion. We cover this aluminum with a hard-anodizing and multi-step paint process which produces a superior protective layer against the elements. All exposed fasteners, shafts and impellers are stainless steel, and multiple self-sacrificing anodes are used to further protect the Jet Drive. All of this protection is backed by an industry-leading 3-year corrosion failure warranty.
What is the shallowest water I can drive my jet boat in?
- Because the jet pump will suck loose objects, including rocks and sticks, from the bottom, we recommend maintaining at least 3 feet clearance between the boat bottom and the bottom of the lake or river.
How do I keep the weeds out of the inlet grate?
- 1997 and newer models can use the Hydro Surge gate with auto weed clean-out system. For older models there is a weed rake.
